About
Scientist, outdoor enthusiast, photographer, poet, and athlete.
Just call me the Jamaican Jack: the collector of exciting experiences.
I was raised in the hills of St Andrew, Jamaica, where I developed my love for adventure and the outdoors. I use my creativity and passion for photography to capture images telling stories about my adventures.
I’m a Ph.D. student interested in understanding the molecular and genetic regulation of Coccidioides, the fungus responsible for Valley fever, and its interaction with the mucosal immune system. Valley fever is a lung infection and a prevalent public health concern in dry regions such as the Central Valley in California, the Southwestern United States, and Mexico. My work will contribute to a better understanding of host-pathogen interactions.
I recognize the importance of stories like mine because representation matters. I want to continue encouraging others to find their space in the world, wherever that space exists.
